After taking a hard-earned break from Hollywood and making a subsequent-slash-triumphant return to the big screen with Judy, Renée Zellweger is once again back in the spotlight. This time, however, it’s for a (fictional) character we all know and love: Bridget Jones.
Stepping out for the world premiere of the third film in the franchise, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Zellweger stunned in a Barbie pink strapless gown courtesy of Pierre Balmain. Most fittingly, the dress was sourced from the designer’s fall 2000 haute couture archive—which just so happens to be one year prior to the release of the original Bridget Jones film.
The Y2K gown featured a short train but was otherwise strikingly simple. As for accessories, Zellweger let the dress do the talking, opting for a single statement cocktail ring. Burgundy closed-toe heels completed the look.
Zellweger’s dress wasn’t the only aspect of her look that turned heads, however. In a surprise turnaround from the pixie cut she debuted earlier this month, the actor’s long blonde hair had returned in full force thanks to what were presumably hair extensions. She chose an appropriately noughties ‘do—the side ponytail—and kept her makeup pink-toned and minimal.
The premiere of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy also served as a rare date night for Zellweger and her boyfriend of four years, Ant Anstead. The pair met on the set of the TV personality’s Discovery+ show Celebrity IOU Joyride in 2021 and started dating shortly thereafter.
“Sometimes two people just meet and click, and the timing is right,” a source previously told People of their relationship. “Renée is creative…and often goes for guys who think out of the box. She’s smart, thoughtful, and always looking to expand horizons and nurture those around her.”
