• Fabric: “Polyester is great because it’s fast drying and it’s also fade resistant,” DeAngelis says. “That’s a big issue a lot of people have, and polyester is going to hold the dye better than some other fabrics will.” As for nylon, she says, “it’s lightweight, but it’s super strong, so it’s going to fit snugly, and it’s not going to stretch out as much as other fabrics might after you wash it a bunch of times.”

I’ve found that the easiest way to handle a hand-wash-only swimsuit is to wash it immediately after wearing, using a small amount of laundry detergent.
