The queen is still recovering after a pneumonia diagnosis.
Queen Camilla has been down and out with an illness over the last month—she had a chest infection that actually turned out to be pneumonia—but the royal isn’t letting it stop her from getting into the holiday spirit. On Wednesday, Camilla attended a Christmas luncheon with volunteers.
During the "Festive Spread" Christmas lunch, hosted by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) organization, Camilla looked the part in an on-theme green suit, which included a posh jacket and a matching pleated skirt styled over black stockings. The monarch paired the suit with a white blouse and black boots, as well as two very special pieces of jewelry.
If her pearl drop earrings and matching multi-strand necklace look familiar, it’s because both accessories are go-to picks for the queen. Camilla has had the pearl choker, which features a diamond pendant, for years. The strands of pearls have become a favorite style of hers as well. During the farewell meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani, Camilla wore a similar piece which featured an amethyst center stone, signifying wellness and health.
On Wednesday, Camilla also sported a sentimental pair of earrings that she wears for nearly every engagement. The pearl-dropping pendant earrings are actually clip-ins, as the queen has previously confirmed, per Express, that she does not have her ears pierced. She even wore the accessories during her 2005 wedding to King Charles.
Despite her ongoing illness, Camilla seemed in good spirits at Wednesday’s event. She even joked with attendees when pouring brandy on the Christmas pudding. “Hold on to your hair,” she teased, per the Daily Mail, while flambéing the pudding.
Camilla has been battling pneumonia after developing a chest infection last month. While the queen appears to be on the mend, her friends recently expressed their “concern” for her amid her health issues.
“We are all extremely concerned that this happened,” one friend of hers told the Daily Beast. “Thank goodness she seems to have recovered. Camilla just needs to rest and recuperate now over Christmas, and I only hope they drive her and The King to church on Christmas Day if it’s cold!”
