It honestly makes sense, though.
I used to have nightmares that I accidentally showed up to school in my pajamas, which is funny, because I remember when I was in high school, some people actually did. And no, it was not during spirit week when it was, in fact, pajama day. Rather, it was on a regular day. They’d be holding a presentation on their take on Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar while wearing long PJ pants and a matching button-up shirt. I found it strange, but what I don’t find strange (and maybe it’s because I’ve changed) is that Emily Ratajkowski just walked her dog in a white nightgown. Relatable? Heck yes! Cute? Honestly yes, as well.
EmRata is certainly no stranger to a, well, strange look. The actress marches to the beat of her own drum when it comes to curating an outfit that’s cool, yet at the same time, on-trend and comfy. And her latest dog-walking look is certainly no exception. But really, when is she seen not walking her dog? She’s a master at it, and while I don’t look like her when I walk my dog at home in Minnesota, I’m getting the itch to dress up a bit more.

The model took to the streets of New York City on yet another hot, humid day in what appeared to look like a lace-trimmed nightie. The super-short, A-line mini dress that looks super similar to a style I wear to catch my zzz’s. But, she wasn’t sleeping. She was walking her dog and looked so cool doing so. The white nightie was chic, elegant, and obviously breezy—a must during this time of year. And while it had that obvious air of lounge-at-home to it, she made the look more street-friendly with PVC Mary Jane flats (ummm, I’m obsessed?), black sunglasses and hoop earrings from Jordan Road.
That said, sleepwear as outerwear isn’t really new. In fact, bras, undies, and swimwear as regular clothes aren’t all that surprising either these days. People are wearing what they want, when they want (keyword being “when”) because while some pieces are tied to a specific occasion, who says that they have to be limited to them? Hence, pajamas can be worn in bed but also to grab a drink on a rooftop.
