The celeb-loved LGBTQ+ brands teamed up for an artistic capsule collection.
Fergie once sang, “A little party never killed nobody!” That spirit of living playfully and unapologetically celebrating every fiber of your being is the inspiration behind a new, exclusive capsule collection created by artists and designers Patrick Church and Disco Daddy. The two independent LGBTQ+ brands are known for their inclusivity and proximity to celebrities—dressing Lil Nas X, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Amanda Lepore, and Megan Thee Stallion, respectively.
Available now, the colorful display of made-to-order couture pieces highlights Church’s signature hand-painting technique, plus Vincent Braccia’s (aka Disco Daddy) mastery of crystal embellishment. Photographed by Steven Simione, the campaign for the collaboration includes models, influencers, and RuPaul’s Drag Race favorites like Gottmik, Gigi Gorgeous, Nova Donnell, Alex Jolicoeur, and Gabe Perks. And while many of the duo’s creations are available upon request only, Church and Braccia dropped three affordable, shoppable pieces, including a rhinestone T-shirt ($125), mesh tank top ($105), and sheer mesh shorts ($75) if you dare.
The sexy, in-your-face capsule is tailor-made to make you feel hot. “It feels right to do a very queer-focused project that highlights visibility for queer people and queer artists,” says Braccia, praising Church’s work as a clothesmaker but also artist and mural painter. Across the collection, Church’s proclivity for portraiture finds expression in exaggerated interpretations of the female (and male) form, while Braccia’s crystal work brings the It factor.
Who’s the collection designed for? Let Church explain: “No one’s wearing it to not be noticed. It’s not a subtle look, and I thought it’s also fun to bring back exciting red-carpet moments," says the designer. "There’s definitely a space for chic, elegant glamour, and that’s great. But why not this? I’m heavily inspired by Bob Mackey and Cher’s many red carpet looks, which she’s worn by him. It’s wearable art, not just clothes.”
For Church and Braccia, Cher, Kate Moss, and Chappell Roan are dream clients. And while it’s validating when famous people wear their designs, it’s not the motive behind their artistry. “We didn’t make this with a celebrity client in mind,” Braccia says. “Anyone who is appreciative and bold enough to wear anything like this is someone I’d love to collaborate with.”
