And their looks couldn't be more different.
Dakota Fanning and her younger sister, Elle Fanning, had a stylish sisters’ moment on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes. At the awards show, the actresses both embraced Old Hollywood glam—albeit in totally different ways. Dakota, for her part, matched the carpet in a stunning sheer red couture gown by Tony Ward that featured a thigh-high slit and a see-through sash of fabric that wrapped around her neck and fell over one shoulder onto the floor. She accessorized with coordinating satin crimson heels and simple diamond stud earrings. Her blonde hair was worn in loose curls swept to the side and she finished off her glam with a bold red lip that was the same color as her dress and glowing skin.
Meanwhile, Elle took an even bolder approach with her red carpet look and wore a strapless Champagne dress with a leopard bustier bodice. The floor-length gown from Balmain included a full pleated skirt and a belt at the waist, and Elle completed her outfit with a gold Cartier choker necklace, an elegant updo, and a brick-red lip.
Elle is not nominated for an award tonight, but attended the ceremony to support Dakota, who is up for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her performance in the Netflix miniseries Ripley.
Speaking of her and Dakota’s difference in fashion, Elle recently told Harper’s Bazaar, “I think Dakota’s very classic. I’m classic too, but with a twist. She’s a little bit more laid-back. There have been times when she’s looked at me and she’s like, ‘Okay, you’re going to wear that?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ And I think she loves me for that, but I kind of make a bolder choice, whereas she just wants to look beautiful and clean and chic.”
She added, "I get to be the crazy one. I think that younger-and-older-sister dynamic is classic.”
