I’ve been seeing them everywhere.
While I’ve slipped on black ice more times than I’d like to admit this week, I have to concede that there’s a silver lining to winter: the fashion. And, given that I live in New York City, there’s been no shortage of chic bundled outfits to admire during my frigid commutes.
My first winter in the city has provided me with endless inspiration, challenging me to mix up my typical outerwear choices. Below, I’m spilling the tea on the five styles I’m seeing everywhere this season, along with affordable versions to achieve the looks yourself.

As a tried-and-true staple, puffer jackets are obviously a mainstay of any winter closet. Lately, though, colorful puffers seem to be many people’s outerwear of choice. I can’t say I blame them—in a season defined by gray skies and sidewalk slush, who wouldn’t want to infuse some much needed color into their day?
This fiery red option from The Drop, for example, would instantly brighten even the most monochrome of looks. To ease yourself into the trend more gently, however, you can instead opt for the olive-toned version, which is versatile enough to style with other basics in your wardrobe, yet avoids falling back on the standard all-black puffer look.

Admittedly, I never, ever thought I’d be a fur coat person. Considering “understated” is a word I’d use to describe my personal taste, a long, dramatic fur didn’t seem like it would ever fit my vibe. Lately, though, I’ve been spotting shorter faux furs that have me rethinking my former hesitation. Because I’m on the shorter side, I love that a cropped style wouldn’t look like it’s swallowing me whole, yet would still add texture into my outfits. It’s also no secret that creating going out looks in the winter is a challenge, so I appreciate that a chic jacket like this shaggy collared pick can dress up my nighttime looks.

A long, well-fitting coat will never go out of style, so it’s no wonder why I see one on nearly every block. While there are endless variations to choose from, coats with plenty of structure and sharp lines are my current favorites. Celebs are on board, too—streetwear queen Katie Holmes has already worn hers several times this season.
Since I’m a fan of anything oversized, I’m eyeing this double-breasted black style, which is perfectly slouchy while still maintaining some structure. Plus, for only $53, it’s a budget-friendly closet staple that can’t be beat.
Leather Bomber Jackets

Along with Adidas Sambas and luxe-looking loungewear, nothing screams “model off-duty” more than a leather bomber jacket. Although this style may seem better suited for fall, with the right layering, it can totally work for winter, too. Personally, I’ve been layering mine over chunky sweaters and adding on a wrap scarf for good measure.
This faux leather option is a close lookalike for the vintage one I scored on the streets of Soho last month—plus, it also looks similar to the style Hailey Bieber recently wore. Just throw on baggy jeans, a hobo bag, and itty bitty sunglasses, and you’ll have the 2025 cool girl uniform on lock.

For those who, like me, feel overwhelmed at the thought of a full-fledged fur, a jacket with faux fur detailing may be a better fit. From the office to the coffee shop, faux fur-trimmed coats seem to be greeting me at every turn these days, and I couldn’t be more obsessed. The fuzzy element adds a touch of coziness, not to mention warmth, to any silhouette.
