The red carpet necklace is back.
Many fashion fans have noticed the mysterious case of the missing red carpet necklace. Once a go-to accessory on the red carpet, over the last year or so, big baubles and jaw-dropping gems have been missing from the collarbones of A-listers, who have opted to go necklace-free when they wear strapless gowns. But Salma Hayek reminded everyone last night at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner that there’s nothing she can’t pull off, including a larger-than-life necklace that spanned nearly her entire chest.
Hayek paired a swirling, shimmering, sparkling necklace with a naked dress that included rows of black pinstripes over a sheer beige lining. The sculptural curves of the necklace stood in contrast to the vertical stripes of her dress, which had a strapless neckline and fell all the way to the carpet. Hayek finished the look with sky-high black platforms and matching rings with diamonds and black details.
A red lip color and side-swept updo upped the Old Hollywood vibes of her Art Deco look, as well as a subtly smoky eye and long lashes.
Hayek was joined by Kim Kardashian, Lauren Sánchez, and Katy Perry at the event, which “highlights the best and brightest in fashion, art, activism, and philanthropy and raises funds to help end gender-based violence,” according to Page Six.
Hayek stars in Angelina Jolie’s new movie, Without Blood, which is based on Italian writer Alessandro Baricco’s 2008 book of the same name. Jolie directed the film (her fifth time behind the camera) and it co-stars Demián Bichir. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival, Hayek said that working with Jolie was an incredible experience.
“This is the best actors' director I've ever worked with,” she shared. “I've never felt so valued. She knew I was the right actress. I didn't even know I was the right actress at the moment.”
