Rich mom in the front, coastal luxury in the back.
Nicole Kidman is fully embracing her backless dress era as she enjoys the award season circuit, from the open-back jewel-encrusted Celine LBD she wore to the 2024 Governors Awards to the silver Balenciaga goddess gown that skimmed her tailbone at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards. And on Tuesday, January 7, the Babygirl star stunned in another black backless dress with coastal accents as she took in the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala with a glass of milk in hand–a cheeky nod to her character in the erotic thriller.
Kidman’s black archival Jean Paul Gaultier gown was demure in the front but dripped with strings of milky freshwater pearls in the back. The floor-length column gown featured chunky pearls along the neckline and the backs of her arms that then hugged the plunging back of her dress. The same stones also embellished the wrists of the long-sleeved vintage dress. As Kidman turned, she showed off strings of delicate tailbone-grazing pearls at the very bottom of the backless design. A pair of black pointy-toed Christian Louboutin heels peeped out from underneath.
In contrast to the Priscilla Presley-style bouffant ponytail that she wore at the Golden Globes, Kidman pulled her strawberry blonde locks into a sleek side-parted ponytail. Lush dark lashes, a rose lip, diamond rings, and long pearl orb earrings finished off her look.
The award season darling was spotted chatting with Ariana Grande and having an Elle Fanning reunion at Cipriani before she recreated a steamy scene from Babygirl for the evening. As she stepped up on stage to accept the award for best actress, Kidman dramatically chugged a tall glass of milk as she told the crowd, “I’m going to raise a glass of milk to all of the baby girls in the room.”
“Good girl,” she said as she finished her mic drop moment, blowing a kiss at the audience before heading back to her seat.
