Lights, camera, glamour.
The Venice Film Festival is known for hosting some of the most glamorous moments in fashion history. Take, for instance, Lady Gaga’s giant candy-pink Valentino gown covered in feathers, which she wore to the premiere of A Star is Born in 2018. Or looking back even further in time, the bedazzled bump-baring sheer separates Kate Hudson sported on the red carpet while pregnant with her eldest son, Ryder, in 2003.
And this year is no exception with Nicole Kidman seemingly making it her mission to keep the annual film festival’s stylish reputation in tact. At the premiere of her new film Babygirl, Kidman went full bombshell in a dramatic corseted gown from Schiaparelli Couture fall 2024 collection. On top, the dress featured a nude corset covered in black sequins and beaded fringe below her waist. Lace-up detailing in the back and layers of tulle fabric fanning out from her chest completed the intricate design, while the bottom portion included a black velvet skirt with a slit in the back.
She accessorized with black-pointed pumps, pearl drop earrings, and a smattering of diamond rings. Kidman styled her strawberry-blonde hair in loose waves with a middle part, and added a generous swirl of pink blush to each cheek and a swipe of mauve-colored lipstick.
In Babygirl, an erotic thriller also starring Antonio Banderas and Harris Dickinson, Kidman plays a high-powered CEO who starts a dangerous affair with a younger man.
“This is one woman’s story, and this is, I hope, a very liberating story,” Kidman said during a press conference earlier in the day, per People. “It’s told by a woman through her gaze … and that’s what, to me, made it so unique, was that suddenly I was gonna be in the hands of a woman with this material.”
