Guess I’ll be channeling Martha all season long.
As the chill of winter settles in, there’s nothing more comforting than wrapping up in a cozy turtleneck sweater. With the holiday season in full swing, it’s the perfect time to embrace warmth and style—especially when we’re all craving that perfect mix of comfort and chic. After a whirlwind year, I’m looking forward to slowing down, reflecting, and enjoying those simple, cozy moments—like slipping into a soft sweater with a hot drink in hand. It’s the little things, right?
Martha Stewart, queen of cozy chic, has also embraced the turtleneck this season (on repeat, at that!), and I love how she’s making it look so polished and festive. Recently, she was spotted rocking a chunky white option at the Rare Beauty Awaken Confidence Body Collection Launch, proving that even the most cozy sweaters can be dressed up for a special occasion—especially if you style them like she did.
Stewart’s take on the trend seems to be rooted in pairing everyday knits with fun textures and fabrics to complement her metallics (she’s a fan, FYI). In fact, it has me rethinking how I’ll be wearing my turtlenecks this season—because if anyone knows how to make comfort look chic, it’s Stewart. I typically pair my oversized sweaters with leggings or low-key denim, but thanks to her, I’m now considering wearing them with gold pants or sequin-embellished skirts because, well, why not?

I’ve always been a fan of the glam and glitz of holiday fashion and the art of dressing up to compete against my cousins, but this season, I’m all about styling sweaters with statement coats and simply being comfortable—because life’s too short for anything else. In fact, my recent clothing rental was almost entirely everyday knits; it’s a winter staple, after all.
What can I say, I want to be completely comfortable as 2024 winds down. This year has been all about the understated elegance of the turtleneck, as Stewart so perfectly proves. It’s versatile, cozy, and effortlessly stylish—whether layered under a blazer for a festive gathering or worn solo for a quiet evening at home. A turtleneck can be whatever you want to make it, and therein lies the beauty of the closet staple.
I’ve found myself stocking up on this seemingly once basic item and truly wearing the heck out of it for the next five months. Shop some that I’m eyeing below.
Madewell Pointelle-Stitch Mockneck Sweater

I have an embarrassing amount of Madewell sweaters. They’re well made and yes, worth every penny. I love the pointelle stitch on this one.
Sanctuary Cozy Day Contrast Crew-Neck Sweater
$68 at Anthropologie
Contrast is so in, and it’s about to become an even bigger trend. This cozy, black-and-white Anthropologie find would look just as good with a black slip skirt as it would with black sweats.
Nordstrom Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater

Get ready to welcome this new staple into your closet. I think I’m going to grab two (maybe three colors) of this. Who doesn’t love affordable cashmere?
