Brown for fall can actually be groundbreaking.
As soon as the leaves start turning, most people’s wardrobe color palette also goes into transformation mode. That often means that we’ll be wearing all-black (with the occasional pop of color) for the rest of the cool weather months. But that, my friends, is no way to live.
Take this from a fashion editor who is known for her all-black outfits: This year’s alternative to a dreary fall and winter seasons is wearing chocolate brown. And Quinta Brunson’s latest look proves it. The Abbott Elementary creator and actress attended a Warner Bros. event wearing a chocolate-brown mock turtleneck dress with a high slit. She paired the piece with knee-high boots that completely made the case for transforming your all-black looks into monochrome chocolate outfits, instead.
While Brunson's head-to-toe chocolate-brown look sure made a statement, it was her boots that made me want to add new footwear to my shopping cart. While we often go for black boots because of their versatility, durability, and, well, classic factor, going for a hue like brown makes for a fresh yet classic take on fall and winter dressing, especially if you, like me, feel tired of wearing all-black.

What’s more, the color is one of the year’s top runway trends, endorsed by designers like Courrèges and Miu Miu, which featured dark brown tones in everything from maxi dresses to leather gloves and, you guessed it, boots. If we had an Espresso summer, the only natural way to continue the trend is to go for a chocolate fall. And I’m all in!
