It's giving Olivia Pope.
By now, we’re all familiar with Kerry Washington’s knack for handling anything— especially a fierce walk in heels. Her years portraying DC political fixer Olivia Pope on the Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal made Washington synonymous with pump heels, a footwear style she’s continuously favored since the show ended in 2018.
So, it’s no surprise that Washington bet big on pumps once again over the past week. On August 23, the actress stepped out in a Prabal Gurung ladylike pink floral set, which included a peplum top and a midi-length pencil skirt. She accessorized it with an Ethan K matching top-handle bag and neutral-toned pumps.
Washington’s penchant for making traditional pump heels cool is unmatchable. This look, for example, took the otherwise classic (read: old school) footwear style into fashion-forward territory with a head-to-toe pink ensemble that made Washington look like a Barbie character. Turns out, Washington’s preferred set of pumps are Le Silla’s Ivy Pumps, which retail for $790 and come with a curved outline on the sides.

It may seem like Washington’s choice of pumps are just another case of ladylike styling or Olivia Pope cosplay. But ultra-femme silhouettes like pump and slingback heels are actually some of fall’s top trends and have been endorsed lately by celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Eva Mendes.
Take a cue from Washington and co. and invest in a good pair of pumps for the upcoming season. At least, you'll get an Olivia Pope-approved walk out of them.
