Western things.
The pantsuit has become a staple in Kamala Harris’s wardrobe as she has taken on the campaign trail and participated in her usual calendar of political engagements. While the power suit makes the perfect sartorial choice for the Democratic presidential nominee, she loves to shake things up sometimes. For her trip to Clarkston, Georgia, the vice president went with an ensemble that was business on top, western on the bottom.
Georgia was the next battleground swing state on Harris’s campaign list ahead of Election Day on November 5. She didn’t stray too far from her tried-and-true look, donning a beige blazer over a black T-shirt, but still made sure to have some fun. Harris swapped her typical tailored trousers for a pair of casual, dark-wash, bootcut jeans. She cinched the denim at the waist with a brown leather belt, and leaned into some color coordination with the perfect fall shoes: matching pointed-toe, heeled booties. The accents seemed to pay homage to the state’s cowboy history and wild west fashion.
She returned to her usual suspects when it came to jewelry, accessorizing with her go-to double gold-and-pearl necklaces, stud earrings, two rings, and gold American Flag pin on her left lapel. As for beauty, Harris went with her classic soft glam, complete with black eyeliner, bronzy cheeks, and a brown-nude lip. She styled her chestnut-colored lob in bouncy curls with a side part.
This isn't the first time Harris has imbued some casual elements into her otherwise formal attire. Last month, she kicked off her New Way Forward Tour in Charlotte, North Carolina, with some unexpected kicks: black Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers. The surprising footwear offered some contrast to her inky black suit and crisp white T-shirt.
