Winter wonderland, but make it fashion.
If there’s one thing Jennifer Lopez always loves, it’s a little sparkle—especially during the festive season. Last month, she sparkled in a bedazzled silver cut-out gown at the 2024 Governor Awards, a bright blue plunging sequin dress, and a bejeweled halter dress for the Wicked premiere. Well, the Unstoppable actress has done it again.
At last night’s IndieWire Honors at Citizen News in Los Angeles, Lopez opted for a semi-sheer maxi dress that was absolutely covered in silver sparkles. So magical and so sparkly was the dress, she looked just like freshly fallen snow glistening in the morning sunlight. The form-fitting dress featured a turtleneck and long sleeves along with a column maxi skirt that fell all the way to the floor. Made with a trendy see-through sparkly fabric, the dress just revealed her bra, the outline of her legs, and the silhouette of her ultra-high platform heels.
Lopez wore her hair down and swept elegantly back from her forehead to show off a pair of gold drop earrings. She opted for a dramatic smokey eye to complete the look.
Lopez was honored with the Maverick Award last night for her role in Unstoppable. “I am really truly honored to receive this award tonight, and I'm incredibly grateful for this recognition,” Lopez said as she took to the stage
She went on: “This award really does hold a special place in my heart because the word maverick, and I looked it up, I wanted to have the real definition, okay? It means an individualist, a non-conformist, a free spirit, an original, a trendsetter, an eccentric, an outsider, a rebel, a dissident, a disrupter."
"I could go on, but I'm not going to. But seriously, what a beautiful thing to be recognized for, for charting your own course," she continued. "I'm appreciative of being seen in that way and recognized for who I am and kind of who I've had to be because I think every artist and everyone in this room has had to figure out how to do it their own way, blaze their own trail."
Unstoppable is a biopic that follows the journey of Anthony Robles, an American wrestler with one leg who won the 2011 NCAA individual wrestling national championship. Lopez plays his mother, Judy. She has already received plenty of acclaim for her performance—including a compliment from her ex, Ben Affleck, who serves as a producer on the project. “Jennifer is spectacular,” he said to Entertainment Weekly last month.
Lopez and Affleck decided against appearing on the red carpet together during the film’s press tour. However, according to the film’s director, William Goldberg, they remained professional, in spite of their ongoing divorce. As he told Variety, “Everybody’s a professional, and that’s their own personal thing. I love them both. I mean, I know Ben better, but Jennifer was literally a dream to work with. She was incredible. And their personal life is their personal life.”
