Soak up the warm textures and rich hues of Mocha Mousse, Pantone‘s 2025 Color of the Year, which the brand announced on December 5. Reminiscent of decadent ingredients such as cacao and coffee, the color speaks to cozy environments that elicit a sense of comfort.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director Pantone Color Institute. “Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Pantone Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace the aspirational and luxe.”
Deep browns also nod to grounding, earthy hues found underfoot including plant roots, bark, and soil. “Infused with subtle elegance and earthy refinement, Pantone Mocha Mousse presents a discrete and tasteful touch of glamour,” she adds. “A flavorful brown shade, Pantone Mocha Mousse envelopes us with its sensorial warmth.”
The inviting color can be spotted in an array of locales given Pantone’s partnerships with brands ranging from tech companies like Motorola to industry favorites including Ultrafabrics, Society6, and Joybird, to name a few. Pantone also plans to highlight Mocha Mousse with global activations in New York, London, Shanghai, and Mumbai, celebrating the 26th anniversary of the Pantone Color of the Year.
“The everlasting search for harmony filters through into every aspect of our lives including our relationships, the work we do, our social connections and the natural environment that surrounds us,” shares Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “With that in mind, for Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a color that reaches into our desire for comfort and wellness, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can give and share with others.”
