Fall is my favorite season to dress for because I get to pull my well-curated collection of sweaters out of storage. Being a former sweater designer, I understand there are tiers to what sweaters to roll out to stores—and the same goes for turning over your summer wardrobe in preparation for fall. 

While temps are still peaking in the high 70s here in Maryland, it’s not time to pull out my chunky wool sweaters just yet. My basic sweater quota has been met, so now I’m on the hunt for styles with elevating details like this Btfbm Ruffled Button-Down Sweater. Another way to elevate your sweaters is with the fabric choice. J.Crew’s Brushed Cashmere V-Neck Sweater is a great example of this with its timeless silhouette and visibly soft texture. The sweater comes in orange, blue, gray, red, black, and blue, and sizes range from 3XS to 3XL. It features a deep- V v-neckline, wide- rib finishings at the cuffs and hem, and billowy sleeves. Plus it has a relaxed fit and a cropped length.

When you find a sweater that works for any occasion, you stick with it. For me, year after year, it’s been a pink version of Ralph Lauren’s Julianna Cable Stitch Sweater. I’m just now discovering it in this tan shade on Nordstrom, but I’m not hesitating on adding it to my cart. The silhouette fits close to the body and is made from a wool-cashmere blend with an all-over cable stitch design. It also features a classic crew neckline, rib finishing for a snug fit, and a length that falls to the hip.
