Of course, they’re from the brand behind my go-to boots.
Let’s set the scene: When you walk into my Upper East Side apartment, you’ll notice a few things about me, right away. I love art; my home is filled with paintings from my grandma that I hold near and dear. I love furniture pieces that tell a story (and mine do, as I stooped most of them from the NYC streets). And last but certainly not least, I love shoes, especially ballet flats, so much so that you’ll probably see four rows of the style once you open my shoe closet.
So I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve tried dozens of flats. I’ve slipped into pairs, and from the very first second of wear, I knew they weren’t for me. Others I’ve put on and let out an instant sigh of relief because they fit so comfortably with zero poking and piercing in my usual problem areas (read: my heels that tend to blister easily!). This sigh-of-comfort-relief was exactly what happened when I tried on Scarlett Chase’s ultra-cute, ultra-cushy Belle ballet flats that are designed with one game-changing feature that majorly levels up their comfort.

On the outside, these flats look like your usual flats—albeit I must say they have a superior exterior, too. The quality of the patent leather, sourced in Italy, is so luxe. I’ve tried my fair share of patent leather options, and they all felt too hard, but not with these Scarlett Chase babies. They have the perfect pointed toe-front, not too piercing but not too round, a sweet strap that keeps them securely on your feet, and a teeny, tiny heel that lifts you up. All these facets are noteworthy, but the true game changer is when you break down the inside.
The second I slipped them on, I felt like I was wearing sneakers—that’s how comfy they were. And that can’t be said about most flats, as the low-to-the-ground shoes don’t always offer much support. However, Scarlett Chase is known for implementing sneaker-like comfort and support into its shoes, and I first experienced this with its sock booties I can’t wait to wear all throughout the fall. But I was reminded of its shoe innovation yet again once I put on these Mary Janes.
They’re designed to be super supportive, thanks to their genius arch-cradling rebounding foam cushioned footbed (a mouthful!) that was so unbelievably comfy, I had to text my mom about it immediately. “Mom, I think I just tried the comfiest (and cutest!!!) flats, ever.” I tell my mom everything, in case you didn’t know. But in all realness, I couldn’t believe how plush and cloud-like the ballerinas felt on my feet.
Of course, the true test is wearing them for the first time, and straight out of the box, these just felt right. There was no break-in period and the patent leather didn’t rub against my easily irritated skin, which the material often does, given it’s a bit harder than traditional leather. They were, in simplest way to put it, a joy to wear, not only because my feet loved them, but also because I felt like a fairy princess ballerina in them. A win-win!
