Sure, you've heard about florals for spring, but what about florals for fall? Emily Blunt couldn't help resist injecting the (in)famous pattern into her pre-fall wardrobe during her latest carpeted appearance, which doubled as a cause that's near and dear to her heart.
The Devil Wears Prada star attended the American Institute for Stuttering’s annual gala on September 16, which she also served as host for, in a fun take on a ball gown. The look, by Erdem, was separated into a two piece ensemble consisting of a crop top and full skirt. The crop top portion of the gown featured sweetheart cups and a deep plunging V, while the skirt included a mock-drop waist that fanned out into a pleated bottom.
The best part of the outfit, however, was the ensemble's print, which featured a red and black floral motif with larger than life bright red ribbons swooping throughout various points of the set. While the spirit of Miranda Priestly ("Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.") is present in this look, the floral's fall-leaning color palette makes it a stunning standout piece for the actress. Blunt wasn't the only one who came dressed up, either—her husband, John Krasinski, looked dapper in a navy blue suit and posed alongside his wife for photos on the red carpet.
Blunt’s hosting gig comes after sharing own struggles with stuttering—she has now become an advocating for children who live with it. “I am grateful to shed light on [stuttering] because it is a disability that lives very often in the shadows alongside its friends: fear and shame and humiliation,” Blunt said while on stage at Variety‘s Power of Women event. “A stutter is like an imposter living in your body. Who doesn’t pay rent. And completely and utterly misrepresents who you are as a person.”
