It was part grunge, part lingerie.
Best friends who dress together, stay together. On Friday night, Blake Lively did a style 180 from her go-to dopamine hues and romantic silhouettes, instead mirroring Taylor Swift’s lingerie-inspired outfit as they stepped out together for a double date in New York City. Joined by Travis Kelce and her husband Ryan Reynolds, the Gossip Girl alum turned heads in a barely-there see-through fishnet dress in one of fall’s hottest hues.
Lively appeared to have coordinated the boudoir memo for the couples’ Soho dinner at The Corner Store, but her unexpected date night outfit leaned more goth than Taylor’s sheer lace corset. Her scoop-neck maroon mesh dress flashed some major skin with sheer cutouts on the front and sides of her bodice, as well as dramatic fishnet long sleeves that took the look into grunge territory. In keeping with the subtly rocker aesthetic, Lively paired the sheer dress with matching fishnet tights that had strategically-placed rips on her hips and cutouts on the front.
The It Ends With Us actress kept the monochromatic hue going by adding Victorian-style oxblood heeled boots that laced up in the front and reached up to her mid-calf. She accessorized with a silver chain choker made up of interlinked hoops and black stones, as well as a sparkly multi-colored quilted bag adorned with a silver chain handle.
While Lively’s mesh and fishnet creation was one of the edgier sartorial choices she’s tried in recent years, the star went classic for her beauty look. She leaned into her signature side-parted old Hollywood-style curls with a voluminous blowout, and added shimmery maroon eyeshadow and a nude lip.
Meanwhile, Reynolds–who held his wife’s hand as they walked outside–broke a fashion rule by wearing a summery white jacket trimmed with gold thread. The navy blue collar was decorated with gold stars to look like the night sky. A pair of matching blue slacks and light brown suede shoes completed his fall outfit.
