As someone who loves going commando, Plaza made an exception for fashion.
Some celebrities are breaking out their winter whites, but with New York City temperatures in the 70s, Aubrey Plaza is hanging onto florals and sheer outfits. Case in point? On Thursday, the actress attended the Dead Funny: An All-Star Tribute to Joan Rivers benefiting the God's Love We Deliver foundation in an olive-green sheer Gucci maxidress with a plunging neckline, lace straps, velvet bustier cups, a triangular detail in the midsection and tiny colorful floral appliqués all over.
A matching scarf and tortoiseshell choker accessorized the mesh dress, in addition to dainty drop earrings and a smattering of rings. She finished off the look with burgundy patent leather pointed-toe pumps. Her brown lob was styled in a sweeping side part and loose curls and complemented her peach-hued glam and thick eyeliner.
The event marked the 10-year anniversary of the fashion icon and comedian's death and featured performances from fellow funny girls, including Plaza, who paid homage to Rivers. Plaza recited some of Rivers's most iconic—and irreverent—one-liners with her signature deadpan delivery. Other comedians to take to the stage last night included Nikki Glaser, Chelsea Handler, Rachel Brosnahan, Michelle Buteau, Sandra Bernhard, Tiffany Haddish, and more.
Although this totally see-through look required undergarments, Plaza previously revealed that she isn’t a fan of undies. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Plaza shared that she has a penchant for going commando while experiencing discomfort in her seat.
"I'm on fire," she said, before pondering what was causing it. "Maybe I should've worn underwear, but I never do. And then I get fucked."
Plaza is no stranger to taking risks on the red carpet. In fact, just last month, the actress wore another head-turning sheer look at the fourth annual Academy Museum Gala. Her see-through Miu Miu dress had strategically placed sequins along her chest, midsection, and legs, along with two giant blush pink bows on either hip.
The sheer dress showed off her matching pointed-toe pumps with bedazzled heels, and she finished the look off with small gold hoops and matching rings.
