Dare to try something new this fall.
Fall fashion is always full of exciting accessory staples. Boots, gloves, scarves, and hats are all in the mix helping us boost our seasonal essentials with pops of color, textures, and silhouettes that are anything but drab. The memo coming from the fall/winter 2024 runways is all about putting a spin on fall accessory staples and reclaiming some forgotten cold-weather essentials.
Thanks to the return of boho chic, as well as the heavy ’40s and ’80s inspiration witnessed on the runways, accessory trends this fall are begging fashion fans to take some risks. Will you wear a 2024 version of a wristlet like Prada showed? Could the leopard print Dior caps be your new thing? Might you be interested in wearing two belts instead of one like Michael Kors presented?
As fall fashion quickly approaches, take a look at some of the accessory trends worth trying this season.
Glove Action
Opera gloves were all the rage a few seasons back, largely thanks to the frenzy over Bridgerton. But this time, gloves are making a different kind of statement. Sturdy, oversized, and edgier takes were shown on the fall/winter 2024 runways. Miu Miu, for example, featured brightly printed lady-like dresses contrasted with thick leather gloves, while Ferrari and Carven displayed slouchy, oversized versions.
Double Belted
Designers took on belts for fall in innovative ways. Most specifically, they doubled up the dose for the season. Michael Kors showed low-rise pants with double-stacked belt loops to accommodate buckle belts, while Max Mara featured a leather strap bag styled as a double belt. JW Anderson took on the cinched waist silhouette with thick double-stacked belts.
Chocolate Treats
One of the season’s top color trends, chocolate brown was featured all over the fall/winter 2024 runways, especially on handbags. The carry-all bags—ranging from roomy top handles to crossbody versions, looked as if they were chocolate-covered candies ready for consumption on the runways of brands like Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, and Tod’s.
Wrist It
Wristlets were all the rage in the Y2K era. And after a two decades away, they've come out to play once again for fall/winter 2024. Well, sort of. This season, designers made a push for carrying bags on your wrists, yet that doesn't mean they look exactly the same as wristlets past. Prada, for example, showed the brand's signature Galleria bags worn by models with an attached buckle strap, while Chloé featured crescent moon bags with round metal handles meant to be worn as bracelets.
Boho Reloaded
With the return of the boho trend, hobo bags were spotted all over the fall/winter 2024 runways. Of course, the premiere boho brand Chloé showcased larger-than-life hobo handbags in a variety of shades. Other brands like Versace and Loewe also showed their versions, which came by way of ruched oversized handbags in bold colors.
Cap Comeback
If there's an accessory that's been removed from the modern uniform, it's hats. But designers are taking care of that for fall, as caps were spotted on the runways of brands like Prada, Schiaparelli, and Chanel. Whether it is a '40s-inspired velvet cap like Prada's or an English countryside-ready version like Chanel's, this fall, it's all about wearing a hat that matches your vibe.
