Are those skinny jeans?
After posing for the flashbulbs last night wearing a polarizing LBD, Katie Holmes just opted for another love-it-or-hate-it pick: skinny jeans. Following her appearance at the Barneys New York and Hourglass cosmetics launch, the actress and mother was back on the NYC streets today in a much more casual fit, though the bright, neon green of her lacy top and the metallic sheen of her silver Franco Sarto Mary Jane flats were anything but low-key.
Holmes, who is set to appear in an upcoming episode of Poker Face for anyone wondering when they'll get to see her in action again, paired the sheer, scallop-trimmed top with a black bra and a pair of medium-wash jeans that stand in sharp contrast to her usual penchant for wide-leg denim. While there have been major names keeping skinny jeans alive (looking at you, Kate Middleton), Holmes giving the silhouette her seal of approval is a major win for the often-maligned cut. Holmes finished her outfit with a black bag that featured a long chain strap and she wore her signature chocolate-brown hair parted in the middle and blown straight.
Most known for playing Joey Potter on Dawson’s Creek, the actress wrote a touching note after news broke that her co-star Obi Ndefo had passed. Deadline reports that Holmes posted an Instagram Story that said Ndefo “was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. I send prayers and grace to his family. Rest in peace.” Ndefo played Joey Potter’s brother-in-law, Bodie Wells, on the beloved WB series from 1998-2002. His sister, Nkem, shared that he’d passed on August 31, but did not give a cause of death.
Holmes also reposted a message from Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gale Leery. That message read, "It’s hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend. You always were and always will be a bright shining light. What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you set as you faced life’s challenges of recent. I will cherish all of our messages of love and support to each other over the past few years. Rest in peace sweet warrior."
