16 Sep 2024 — To meet the demands of the growing animal and pet nutrition industry, dsm-firmenich unveils a new Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) premix and additives manufacturing plant in Egypt. According to the company, the facility will allow the company to support mid-range and large livestock farms and feed millers with premixes and innovative feed additives.
The facility will serve customers in Egypt, the Middle East, Southern Europe and Africa and provide producers with a reliable supply and delivery of top-quality products.
“Our goal is to enable sustainable animal farming worldwide, working jointly with our customers, our partners and all players in the value chain, says Ivo Lansbergen, President of ANH at dsm-firmenich. “The opening of our new plant in Sadat City will allow us to meet the rising demand for feed premixes, in terms of quantity, quality and reliability, in Egypt and in export markets.”
Growing capacity
The new facility will cover an area of 10,000 square meters and is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure and sophisticated technology from Bühler Technologies and features a comprehensive plant control system with barcode integration.
The plant boasts an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons and is designed to excel in production efficiency, food safety, quality and environmental sustainability. It also complies with international standards for quality and safety relevant to specialty feed ingredients.
“At the same time, it will reduce environmental impact within the value chain and enhance profitability for all stakeholders,” Lansbergen underscores. “This plant represents a significant investment in the future of our company and the region.”
Specialized ingredients and supplements
dsm-firmenich also highlights that the plant is set to produce a wide range of specialized animal nutrition products, including vitamins, minerals and cutting-edge feed additives.
Moreover, since the plant is strategically situated, it can offer logistical advantages and enable easy and effective distribution to customers in the feed and animal protein sectors, both domestically and internationally.
The company also recently partnered with NutriLeads to formulate pet prebiotics.
Lansbergen points out that the new facility, which is the 50th in dsm-firmenich’s worldwide network, will boost the company’s production capabilities, allow dsm-firmenich to better serve its customer base and give the company an opportunity to contribute to local economic development.
“It will not only enhance our production capabilities but also create new job opportunities and contribute to the local economy,” Lansbergen concludes. “We are committed to driving innovation and maintaining the highest quality standards in everything we do.”
