Selena Gomez has lots to celebrate tonight, and she arrived at the 2024 Emmys ready to slay. The actress, who is nominated for her first individual Emmy tonight (she’s been nominated previously as a producer on Only Murders in the Building) hit the red carpet wearing a slinky halter gown in one of fall’s favorite fabrics.
Gomez marked her arrival in a black velvet gown from Ralph Lauren with a crystal-encrusted neckline that matched her diamond leaf drop earrings and sparkly bangle on her wrist. She finished off her look with a smattering of diamond rings and a sleek blowout that was styled straight and tucked behind her ears with a middle part.
A nude lip, rosy cheeks, and black cat-eye liner provided the finishing touches to her beauty look.
Last year, Gomez was nominated along with her co-stars and fellow producers Steve Martin and Martin Short for Outstanding Comedy Series, but tonight's nod marks Gomez's first time being recognized in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category for her role as Mabel Mora on the hit Hulu show. The series received a whopping 21 nominations this year, including Outstanding Lead Actor nods for Martin and Short.
Gomez arrived on the carpet in a partially sheer Oscar de la Renta dress with a sequined pattern, which she styled with a very stunning—very expensive—diamond and pink sapphire Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany choker. In 2022, Gomez joined her co-stars on stage to present an award in a shimmery white halter gown and emerald tassel earrings.
When Gomez first received her nomination this year, she shared her excitement with a photo of her in front of a celebratory cake. “I’m honored and and insanely grateful for this,” she captioned the Instagram Story. “Thank you @onlymurdershulu for giving me Mabel.”
Earlier this year, Gomez told Rolling Stone that she plans to focus on her acting career over music at this point in time. “I think it’s natural for people to take breaks, but I think for me, there is a whole other aspect to my life, pride and joy,” she said. “I love film. I love TV. I just feel like I haven’t done a lot of the things that I want to do in that space. It’s not that it’s ‘no, never’ [to music], it’s more that I would like to explore that world a bit more and have the time to actually do that.”
“[In the acting world], I love being able to take roles that I have to fight for, not the ones that are being handed to me,” she continued. “I’m going for the stuff that really, really inspires me.”
