She subtly tried out the season's hottest hair trend.
Natalie Portman has leaned into her reputation as a beauty chameleon over her decades-long career, from going golden blonde to completely buzzing off all her hair for her 2006 film V for Vendetta. In between all the dramatic chops and variations of honey highlights, the Star Wars actress has been partial towards a lighter look in recent years. On Monday, however, she leaned into fall's hottest hair color trend as she debuted a curly dark copper chop with a plunging gown for her latest red carpet appearance.
Just weeks after showing off a long bronde style at Paris Fashion Week, Portman went back to her roots as she attended the 68th Ballon D’Or Photocall in France’s capital. As she posed on the carpet of the Théâtre Du Chatelet, the Black Swan actress smoldered in a warm brunette shade that was spiced up with some subtle copper highlights–a seeming nod to fall 2024’s red hair trend. Her newly-darkened locks were chopped in a dramatic lob, which she styled with her natural curls and a Y2K-esque side-parted hairstyle with a side-swept bang.
Portman let her new hair color and shoulder-length silhouette shine by pairing it with a dramatic plunging navy blue velvet gown, which brought out the subtle undertones of recent dye job. The floor-length dress’s V-cut neckline scooped down to her ribs, just a few inches above a rope belt that cinched in her waist. The slit cape sleeves featured a cold shoulder design, subtly baring some extra skin.
The Academy Award-winning star showed off her leading lady expertise by leaning into red carpet jewelry for her appearance. Three large diamond cocktail rings designed to look like sparkly roses sparkled on her fingers, while a pair of diamond drop earrings peeked out from her curls.
Portman leaned into the Parisian beauty memo at the event, subtly enhancing her features and adding some seasonal color to her navy blue gown with a fall berry lip stain, an iridescent copper eyeshadow, and a rose blush flush.
