She brought rock star energy to the red carpet
Miley Cyrus got her “Flowers” with her first Golden Globe nomination since 2009–and the “Used To Be Young” singer channeled her inner rock star as she posed at the awards during a rare red carpet appearance on Sunday, January 5.
Cyrus’s original song “Beautiful That Way” from Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl was nominated in the “Best Original Song–Motion Picture” category, and she gave award show attire an edgy twist as she stepped to celebrate in a plunging sequin-encrusted black Celine dress with a completely backless design and huge chest cutouts.
The former Disney star has slowed down her red-carpet appearances in recent years, but she still knows how to steal the spotlight at an award show. Case in point: Her barely-there gold net Maison Margiela dress that she paired with Barbarella-coded voluminous bouffant hair when she scooped up her first Grammy wins ever at the 2024 Grammy Awards last February.
While Cyrus has kept a low profile over the last year, she brought cool girl energy to the Golden Globes on Sunday in the sleeveless black Celine number. The side boob-baring dress featured a plunging neckline and a daring floral cutout design just below her chest that was encrusted with silver sequins. The silver sequins wrapped up around her shoulders and around the back in a cross design, as well as along the bottom of the backless design.
The multi-hyphenate put on a pair of black rectangular sunglasses as she posed on the red carpet, momentarily covering up her frosty metallic smokey eye and eyelash-grazing new fringe as she snapped some photos. Cyrus showed off her new full bangs by putting her balayage-hued hair up in a messy Y2K-coded updo with face-framing pieces and added a pop of color with a soft baby pink lip.
Cyrus was joined at Sunday's show by The Last Showgirl’s Pamela Anderson, who was nominated for her very first Golden Globe during her 35-year career in Hollywood. The former Baywatch star received a nod in the “Best Actress in a Motion Picture–Drama” for her role as Shelly, a Las Vegas dancer who’s told that her longtime show is coming to an end.
The Wrecking Ball singer gave Anderson a sweet shout-out when the nominations were first released, writing, “Pamela is graciously sharing her moment with us. I am continuing to root for her; it’s so fun to watch her shine,” in a December 12 Instagram post.
