It's a serve.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were supposed to have a low-key celebration for the royal’s 40th birthday, but when you’re the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, even the most laid-back celebration is a big deal. Over the weekend, Markle and Harry made an appearance at the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament at the Los Angeles Tennis Club, where their Archewell Foundation served as a presenting sponsor. Markle’s close friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen, organized the event, which helps raise money for children in foster care. She started the charity after she lost her son, George, when he was 9 to COVID-19 and viral meningitis.
She shared snapshots from the event on Instagram, which showed Markle glowing in a buttery yellow minidress—it’s still very much summer in L.A., after all.
“Harry and Meghan, you have been such a guiding light for our family, not just in the way you have shown up in friendship, but how you have shown up through the incredible work the Archewell Foundation does every day,” McKee Zajfen wrote alongside photos of Harry and Markle at the event, including one of that showed her and Meghan hugging. “I’m in awe of your commitment to community and to friendship. On behalf of the Alliance for Children’s Rights, we thank you. On behalf of our family, we love you.”
Meghan's textured yellow dress, which is from Giuliva Heritage, included a halter neckline with a preppy collar detail. She paired the tenniscore look with a Carolina Herrera Doma Insignia top-handle bag and blocky tan sandals. In true Cali girl fashion, she wore her hair in relaxed waves parted down the middle.
McKee Zajfen also took some time to shout out Harry, adding, “Extra special day too…HAPPY 40th Birthday H! May this trip around the sun be the best yet.”
