There are pants and then there are cool pants, and Heidi Klum just wore the latter—again. It’s no surprise that the German supermodel was the one to put these fresh, fun bottoms on my radar. Klum is known for her follow-zero-rules dressing ethos, and honestly, I’m taking notes. Because, hey! Fashion is fun and your clothes should feel like you, so wear what you want, when you want, but you should definitely consider Klum’s pants because they’re—in a word—cool.
But, cool pants don’t have to be complicated. The supermodel was photographed out and about in California looking as Cali-cool as ever. Her casual uniform consisted of a mostly unbuttoned, easygoing denim button-down, and big black parachute pants that are convincing me to trade out my usual wide-legs for the season ahead.

Klum tucked the button-down into the pants, keeping the proportions balanced and not too oversized. Smart! In doing so, she really let the statement-making pants shine with their volume taking center stage. However, what was different about Klum’s voluminous pants compared to others I’ve seen is that elastic hem that gave them a more refined touch, if you will. The cinched-in effect at the bottom wasn’t only a contrasting detail to the pant’s billowy cut, but it ensured that Klum’s shoes remained front and center, too. She opted for a pair of denim-esque pumps that perfectly coordinated with her button-down. Top-notch styling, Klum!
But back to the pants; while I’m a big fan of baggy trousers, I’m itching to try a fresh silhouette that feels a bit more daring—Klum’s parachute pants are just that. They still provide that sought-after comfort of a bigger pair (a.k.a., something that’s not too constricting), but with unexpected detailing that turns them up a notch.
