She took a leaf from Suri's style book.
Katie Holmes is taking notes from Gen Z in her street style. While the Dawson’s Creek alum has been gravitating towards jewel-toned statement silks and eclectic accessories recently, she’s best known for her undeniably appealing regular schmegular weekender fashion. And her latest casual ensemble looks like she raided her daughter Suri Cruise’s closet on Monday as she stepped out in the generation’s footwear of choice.
Nothing epitomizes Gen Z style quite like white Air Force 1 sneakers paired with ultra-baggy jeans, and Holmes left her Gen X staples behind as she stepped out in the trendy combination. The style icon has been ditching her normcore, effortlessly casual sartorial M.O. for a streak of fashion risks in recent weeks, like the silk slip skirt she wore under a dad-coded blue striped dress shirt or the patchwork jeans that gave off art school teacher vibes. However, Holmes was back to her go-to low-lift outfit formula on Nov. 25 as she stepped out in a relatable look that also fit the Gen Z definition of cop-worthy.
While arriving at Barrymore Theatre for her performance at Our Town, Holmes showed off the comfortable white sneakers, which peeped out from under the oversized silhouette of her dark-wash jeans. However, her versatile yet quietly luxurious winter outerwear was the real star of her Monday outfit: A black suede midi-length coat with wide lapels that showed off a glimpse of a black knit sweater underneath at the double-breasted neckline and effortlessly elevated Holmes’s entire look.
Holding her signature holiday Starbucks coffee in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other, the actress accessorized with oversized aviator sunglasses and a distressed, slate gray baseball cap. Her pebble-hued Manu Atelier Le Cambon 35 Silk Grey Nubuck Bag–a $745 design she also wore just two days earlier with forest green silk pajama pants, bright turquoise socks, and a black teddy coat. As Gen Z would say, consider me influenced.
