Sleeves? Pushed up. Size? Extra large. Shoulder pads? Absolutely huge.
It’s that time of year again—as we head into the final days of summer, we are all reaching for our trusty transitional pieces to keep us warm as the evenings become a little chillier. And when it comes to transitional dressing, it doesn’t get more classic than the blazer. Each year, a new blazer trend seems to crop up, whether it be the oversized blazer, the cropped blazer, or even the cape blazer. One blazer look that never misses? The good, old-fashioned 1980s blazer—shoulder pads and all. Stepping out in Miami, Florida last night, Jessica Alba made the case for bringing this classic blazer back.
The actor's a timeless outfit consisting of baggy high-waisted medium blue jeans, a tight square neck white tank top, and a pair of black boots with a chunky heel. The star of the outfit, however, was her brilliant white blazer. It was an oversized, double breasted number, and with its prominent shoulder pads and pushed up sleeves, it was a true '80s throwback. Alba added a pop of color to the look with Chanel's Classic 11.12 Flap Bag in Burgundy, which she carried by the strap. She wore her hair in sleek loose waves and accessorized with layered gold necklaces and oversized gold hoops.
Other celebs have also been reaching for their retro, oversized blazers in recent months. Blake Lively wore a large white blazer during her It Ends With Us press tour (it featured embroidered flowers, naturally). Jennifer Lopez recently wore a giant white blazer with subtle arm cut-outs. And Sydney Sweeney emphasized her sparkly oversized blazer by pairing it with itty bitty shorts.
In fact, Alba herself has rocked a few blazers in recent months. In June, she paired an oversized grey blazer with matching high-waisted bermuda shorts and a crop top. She also stepped out that same month in the very same blazer and jeans, pairing them instead with a pair of white sneakers for a more casual daytime look.
