I don’t know about you, but I tend to celebrate my birthday all month long. I pride myself on giving everyone in my life the best gifts—not to brag, but I’ve been told I nailed it multiple times. And, quite frankly, I think I should give myself the best presents, too.
I’m turning 45 this year, which means I’m thinking about what I want and need in a whole new way. The things on my birthday wishlist are practical fashion and beauty items that will simultaneously put a smile on my face *and* stand the test of time. And, okay, maybe they’ll help keep me looking a little more youthful, too. (I’m looking at you, Sunday Riley Good Genes.) I’ve rounded up eight purposeful-yet-luxurious items I’m gifting myself this year, from a trendy suede bag to comfy jeans (and yes, I’m having everything gift wrapped). Everything’s available on Amazon, and best of all, prices start at just $10.

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment
$85 at Amazon
As I approach 45, I’ve noticed subtle changes in my skin; namely, a few more breakouts and slightly rougher texture. Since I always tell people my youthful appearance is due to my family’s good genes, it seems apropos to incorporate this Sunday Riley resurfacing serum into my skin care routine—especially since my best friend has been lauding its efficacy to me for years. Oh, and celebs like Oprah Winfrey and Helen Mirren use it, too. High potency lactic acid deeply exfoliates dead surface cells while licorice brightens dark spots, and it’s clinically proven to immediately and significantly plump the look of fine lines and boost radiance in three minutes, per the brand.
The serum has earned thousands of five-star ratings from Amazon shoppers, who said their skin “feels tightened and hydrated” and looks “less crepey.”
Plnotme Baggy Barrel Jeans
$50 $40 at Amazon
While I often eschew jeans in favor of leggings or dresses, I have definitely been curious about barrel jeans for quite some time. (Maybe it’s my ’90s upbringing coming to call.) Yes, the baggy style with tapered ankles can be somewhat controversial, but I want to throw caution to the wind like Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez. This style is designed in cotton-blend denim with a zip-and-button fly, five-pocket styling, and angled seams at the knees. I have my eye on the navy wash, which has slight whiskering at the thighs and fading down the legs, but they also come in a variety of light and blue dark washes, black, and khaki, and sizes 2 through 14. I also love that the slightly cropped inseam will work well for my shorter five-foot frame. Shoppers said the jeans “have just the right amount of barrel without looking weird.”
JW Pei Hana Medium Faux Suede Tote Bag
$129 at Amazon
I’ve been eyeing this structured satchel-like tote for months. It’s designed in luxe, buttery faux suede, a texture that’s certainly having its moment in the sun but can be worn anytime, anywhere, with anything. The silhouette highly resembles styles from Khaite and The Row, but at a much more affordable price point, which means it’s an absolute essential for my day-to-night wardrobe. I love the loop-through straps accented with a gleaming gold hardware detail, and I want it in all four colors—but if I *have* to choose, I’m going with olive green. One shopper said the “quality is amazing,” while another reviewer, who received the bag for free, said it “screams luxury.” Okay, okay, I’ll buy it in every color.
Dream Pairs Fuzzy Cozy Slippers
$41 at Amazon
I’ve fully embraced the cozy slipper lifestyle, and these are the latest pair to grab my attention. They’re crafted in soft suede with plush faux fur lining, and the slip-resistant rubber soles mean they’re great for both indoor and outdoor wear. I also love that they have foam insoles and arch support, both of which have become imperative for me ever since I broke my ankle in two places almost a decade ago. They’re accented with embroidered trim around the heel collar and exposed stitching down the center, and they come in four colors and sizes 6 through 12. Happy shoppers said the slippers, which may or may not be a dupe for a popular and pricier brand (FYI: yes, they are) are “incredibly cozy” and “very warm and comfortable.”
