These seven styles are both comfy and flattering.
Admittedly, I met the cargo pant revival with skepticism. Once I succumbed to the slouchy, pocket-padded pants, however, I found myself buying the style en masse, pairing them with tank tops and baby tees à la JLo in the early aughts.
Autumn’s arrival has halted the crop-top-wearing, outdoor frollicking opportunities I enjoyed a few short weeks ago, and I’m inclined to spend weekends curled up on the couch with my cats. Though chilly temperatures necessitates sartorial shifts, the cargo pant style I adore is still very much part of my fall wardrobe—with a twist—thanks to sweatpant spinoffs. Fleecy, flattering, and on-trend, the cargo style elevates the average sweatpant. Many of the options below are already in my wardrobe (I’m wearing a pair RN, in fact), while the others are at the top of my wishlist. Prices start at $24.

Spanx On the Move Cargo Jogger
$138 at Spanx
Hailing from one of Oprah’s favorite brands, these stretchy joggers are as flattering as they are comfortable—i.e. extremely. Plus, they’re made of sweat-wicking fabric, making them a win for workouts, travel, running errands, and lounging. The pants are also size-inclusive, ranging from XS-3X. If you, like I, simply must have a pair, shop quickly: Certain colors are already sold out.
Pinspark Cargo High-Waisted Sweatpants
$28 $24 at Amazon
These ultra-snuggly sweats were my foray into the cargo style, and remain among my favorite to date. Made from a polyester, rayon, and spandex blend, they’re stretchy and among the most breathable lounge pants I own. Plus, they’ve remained soft and true-to-size, despite many (many) washes. I own the gray version, and plan to nab additional hues while they’re on sale.
Garage UltraFleece Cargo Sweatpants
$60 at Garageclothing.com
Garage—a lesser-known activewear brand I recently discovered and fell for—makes cozy cargo sweatpants. Naturally, I’m eyeing a pair in each of the nine colors, including the fall-perfect burgundy shade. The pants have a hip-skimming waistband and a roomy, straight-leg style with quintessential cool-girl flair. And thanks to the derrière pocket detailing, one fan said they make the “butt look amazing.” Sign me up.
Aleumdr High-Waisted Fleece Wide Leg Cargo Pants
$33 $21 at Amazon
I reckon I’ll thank myself for snagging these fleece-lined sweats when temperatures plummet. In addition to the ultra-warm interior, these trendy wide-leg cargos feature a drawstring waistband that allows you to adjust them below or above the belly button. Not to mention, they’re practical: All four pockets are roomy enough for phones, lip balms, small wallets, and even a travel-sized hand cream.
