I see Paris, I see France—where in the world are Ashley Park's pants?
Controversial opinion: Mindy Chen’s outrageous, over-the-top fashion is the actual star of Emily in Paris. That’s not to say Emily’s wardrobe is boring by any means, but there’s just a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to Chen’s personal style. And it appears as if Ashley Park (who plays Chen in the Netflix series) is taking note of her character’s bold looks.
On Wednesday, Park was photographed exiting her hotel in Midtown Manhattan wearing an outfit that looked like it came straight out of Chen's closet. Leaving her pants at home, Park opted for a black sequined bodysuit with high-cut sides that highlighted her long legs. The actress added an oversized black blazer for extra length and accessorized with strappy black sandals, a black leather mini tote bag, silver hoops, and a smattering of diamond rings.
Park pulled her brunette hair back into a high ponytail with bouncy curls and finished off her glam with a glossy nude lip, shimmery eyeshadow, and feathered lashes.
In a new interview with W Magazine, Park opened up about her Emily in Paris character’s style and how it’s not so dissimilar to her own. “I’m definitely inspired by Mindy’s style, and she’s definitely inspired by my style,” Park explained. “Mindy marches to the beat of her own fashion drum, and I tend to do that too. We’ve seen her fashion evolve throughout the seasons as she’s become more empowered and sure about herself, and that’s definitely mirrored in my own fashion journey.”
She added, "When it comes to Mindy, every outfit is an art piece, so I work with the hair, makeup, and costume teams to determine how to breathe as much life and freshness as possible into every look."
