A masterclass in seasonal style.
Like “flowers for spring,” blazers for fall are not exactly groundbreaking. In fact, they’re pretty standard sartorial fare. Nevertheless, executing a blazer look flawlessly is deceptively hard to do. And, naturally, Lily Collins just did it twice in one day.
While out and about for her Emily in Paris season 4 press tour in New York City, Collins rocked two timeless fall looks that each put their own tiny little spin on the classic fall uniform—and the centerpiece of each look was the pitch-perfect blazer.
For her first look, Collins paired a black v-neck crop top with a pair of high-waisted mom jeans, which she wore belted, and a pair of black pumps. Over the top, she threw on a '90s-style oversized brown houndstooth double-breasted blazer. She finished the look off with a pair of rounded black sunglasses.
This blazer-plus-black crop top formula has been serving Collins well over the past couple of weeks. In fact, she's worn the exact same black crop top with two different blazers on recent days.
And the blazer looks kept on coming. Collins also strayed from her tried and tested crop top-with-big-blazer uniform yesterday, swapping her oversized brown houndstooth blazer for a fitted black leather blazer, which she wore buttoned up and paired with slouchy tailored brown trousers and the same black shoes and sunglasses. Overall, Collins' two blazer looks are a masterclass in making a chic fall capsule wardrobe really work. As Collins makes very clear, all you need is a bold, statement-making blazer to make an average fall outfit really pop.
Collins’s recent array of looks have been firmly anti-Emily Cooper. While Collins’s Emily in Paris character may have a penchant for all things wacky and wild, Collins has established herself as being fully committed to understated, timeless looks.
