Luckily for us, it did.
In case you missed it, Jennifer Lopez wore the revenge dress of all revenge dresses last week at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, but the dress almost didn't make it onto the red carpet.
For the festival premiere of her upcoming film Unstoppable, which is produced by her ex-husband Ben Affleck, Lopez wore a head-turning, jaw-dropping, gag-worthy Tamara Ralph disco-ball dress that was left open on both sides and held together by massive black bows, creating skin-baring cutouts. After the viral dress practically broke the internet, the multi-hyphenate spoke with People about the fashion choice.
“I felt good," she said of her September 6 appearance before adding with a laugh, “There was a discussion about whether I should or shouldn't. And I was like, fuck it."
Although Affleck was involved in the film, the star let his ex, who filed for divorce last month, have her moment and sat out from the premiere. His longtime friend and business partner Matt Damon, however, was in attendance. And according to People, Lopez and Damon had a nice conversation at the after-party. “Jen and Matt began talking and had a long, deep conversation,” a source told the outlet. The two even reportedly held hands briefly during the talk.
Elsewhere during the event, Lopez was captured seemingly joking about her recent breakup with co-star Bobby Cannavale in a video taken by The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m a bad picker,” she can be heard saying with a laugh.
“It is what it is," she added to the actor.
In an interview with Variety, the movie’s director, William Goldenberg, said that both parties have remained professional when it comes to the project.
“Everybody’s a professional, and that’s their own personal thing," he said. "I love them both. I mean, I know Ben better, but Jennifer was literally a dream to work with. She was incredible. And their personal life is their personal life."
