The proud mom called the moment “pretty cool.”
Brooke Shields’s daughter, Grier, isn’t the only celebrity baby raiding her mom’s closet. On today’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, host Kelly Ripa shared that her daughter, Lola Consuelos, wore one of her gowns to a recent event and that the moment was “pretty cool” for the mother of three. Back in August at D23, the Disney fan event, Ripa was inducted as a Disney Legend during a star-studded ceremony that included Miley Cyrus and Angela Bassett. Naturally, Lola was on hand to support her mom and she arrived with her parents wearing a long, wine-colored halter dress.
“That dress that Lola was wearing is 30 years old,” Ripa said during today's opening segment. “That was my dress from 30 years ago. So, I thought that was pretty cool.”
“I was like [to Mark], ‘See? Price per wear!'" she added.
Mark mentioned that he got "teary-eyed" during Ripa's speech, and she added that she had to look away from him so that she wouldn't react similarly.
“I know, I looked away from you when you did,” Ripa said. “I was like, ‘Okay…’ So, I just looked at Angela Bassett the entire time.”
“What did you want me to do?,” Mark said, to which Ripa added, “I just didn’t want to be emotional with you, so I looked at Angela.”
The dress in question was a floor-skimming column-style gown with a delicate halter neckline and a loosely gathered waist. Lola wore it with her hair pulled into a polished ponytail and added a simple bracelet. For her honor, Ripa wore a polka-dot dress with a long tie neckline and Mark Consuelos joined his wife and daughter in a sleek black suit and white button-up.
Last month, Ripa shared a video chronicling her time at the event, captioning the clip, “Being named a Disney Legend is just the pixie dust on top of a sundae. Thank you for this honor @Disney! @DisneyD23.”
Lola, who is 23, recently graduated from NYU and just released her debut single, "Paranoia Silverlining."
“They loved it,” she told People of her parents’ reaction to the track. “My parents are the last people to sugarcoat anything when it comes to my singing. They are going to tell me if it sounds bad! So when I saw they had a good reaction and liked it, I felt reassured.”
As for following in their well-heeled footsteps, Lola explained that while having a set of parents who are in the entertainment industry certainly can't hurt, Mark and Ripa aren't the best ones to have when it comes to the music world.
"My parents, oddly, even though they're in the business, the one thing they have actually no idea about is music," she finished. "They really don't know what they're talking about once when it comes to music. So, it's very sweet to see them do their posts here and there and their little videos."
