The queen of neutrals strikes again.
There might still technically be several weeks left of summer, but Angelina Jolie is diving straight into fall with her wardrobe. After arriving at the 81st annual Venice International Film Festival in a trench coat with short sleeves and black leather knee-high boots, the actress was at it again in another autumn-ready outfit.
On Wednesday, Jolie was spotted stepping off a gondola and onto a nearby dock at Hotel Excelsior, where she traded her usual black, white, and beige color palette for a new kind of neutral: chocolate brown. Wearing the sumptuous shade in the form of a chiffon gown, Jolie maintained her signature minimalist style while looking delectably cozy at the same time.
Still appropriate for the warm weather, her dress was sleeveless and semi-sheer, and featured a criss-cross diamond detail at the waist that flowed into a pleated skirt. Jolie accessorized with a matching pair of pointy-toe pumps, diamond drop earrings, and a single sparkling ring on her left hand. Her blonde-highlighted hair was worn down in a bouncy blowout with a side part, and she finished off her glam with a pink lip, coral blush, and smoky eyes.
Jolie is currently at Venice Film Festival to promote her upcoming movie, Maria, a biographical drama about opera singer Maria Callas. The film takes place in the 1970s in Paris near the end of Callas's life before she died of a heart attack at age 53.
“She became the sum of the tragedies that she played on stage,” director Pablo Larraín told Vanity Fair of the movie. “The movie is about someone who, after dedicating her life to the audiences around the world that would listen to her, decides to find her own voice, her own identity, and finally do something just for herself.”
